If you are tempted to do a detox after every holiday weekend read this first

We know the feeling… You’ve indulged, you’ve had a little too much to drink, and you’re coming back feeling blah.  


But here’s what we want to remember… there is NO WAGON.  There is no ON - OFF switch when it comes to your physical health or metabolism. Of course, there are choices that are more health promoting than others, but no single weekend is going to completely reverse whatever work you have put into your health or destroy your metabolism.  


When we feel guilty about our choices, our tendency is to go to the extremes with ALL the healthy behaviors we can think of, getting overwhelmed, and then not being able to keep up with any of them. 

So instead of returning home and starting another detox plan, what if you identify just ONE habit to focus on this week that will help you feel good?  

Here are a few of our favorites: 

  • No alcohol for the next week, THEN when you do bring it back, figure out how you stick to 4 drinks/week or less 

  • Walking at least 5K steps every day this week

  • Scheduling 2 strength training workouts for the week 

  • Choosing starchy veggies & fruits in place of grain-based products this week (ie bread, pasta, crackers, oatmeal)

  • Eating at least 20 grams of protein at breakfast every morning this week

Remember we just want you to choose ONE OR TWO Of these, no more ! Once you get good at that one you can layer on another.
